International Adoption from Armenia

Armenia is one of the oldest countries in the world. It is a very natural country and has beautiful views mostly of its green mountains throughout the land. It is a very peaceful country. Armenia is a small (former Soviet) republic in the southern Caucasus, bordering on Turkey from the west, Azerbaijan from the east, Georgia from the north and Iran from the south. It has always been one of the more prosperous and stable former Soviet countries.
Armenia is a member of the Hague Convention for Inter-Country Adoption.

Armenian adoptions are regulated by the National Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
Adoption Related Services, Inc. is working with an experienced team in Armenia who has been assisting families to adopt for several years. Armenia has recently passed adoption legislation which has eliminated some of the more bureaucratic steps.
Children Available for Adoption
- Very young children available for adoption from age six months.
- Both boys and girls are available for adoption.
- Children are well cared for in orphanages.
- Children are of Armenian heritage. Typically these beautiful children will have darker hair and olive skin.
- Sibling groups are available but families cannot adopt unrelated children.
Prospective Adoptive Parent(s) will receive medical information and pictures of their child. Prospective Adoptive Parent(s) must consult with medical experts to evaluate the child(ren) referred before accepting the referral.
Adoption Process Time
- The process for adopting a child from Armenia typically takes from 3-6 months after submitting your dossier.
- The prospective adoptive parent(s) have two options:
- Two trips: the first trip will be about 5-7 days and if a couple, both must be on this trip, as they must both attend the court hearing. The second trip is about 3 days in order to complete the U.S. visa process. If a couple, only one has to attend.
- One trip: The prospective adoptive parent(s) stay for a single trip of about 28 days. During this time it is possible for them to have their child(ren) with them. If a couple, one member can leave after the court hearing.

Who Can Adopt From Armenia
- Perspective parents must be between 25 and 50 years of age. Over 50 will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Couples married at least one year are eligible to adopt.
- Divorce is acceptable.
- People who already have children may adopt.
- People of non-Armenian heritage may adopt.
